Biography
Nell Regan was born in London in 1969 and
grew up in Dublin where she currently lives and teaches. She studied
history at UCD and has an MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster
University and The Poets' House in Donegal. Her poetry has been widely
published and anthologised and Underworld,
a chapbook was published by
Lapwing in 2004. Her non fiction publications include the first
biography of Helena Molony in Female
Activists, Irish Women and Change,
Woodfield Press, 2002 and the Field Day Anthology Vol 4. In 2006 she
was shortlisted for the Patrick Kavanagh Awards and she received the
2007 Dublin City Council Bursary for Literature. Preparing for Spring,
published by Arlen House and distributed by Syracuse University Press
in the US, is her debut collection and was nominated for the 2007 Glen
Dimplex New Writing Awards. In 2011 she published a second book of
poetry in conjunction with artist Monica Boyle, called Bound for Home.
She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2011 and recently attended
the International Writers Program at the University of Iowa. She will
be based in Berkely, California and New York in early 2012.
